| Most freakiest thing about this flu.....
"This is an interesting virus. It's a brand new virus, not only to humans but to the world," said Dr. Frank Plummer, scientific director of the Winnipeg lab.

| its crazy, and with the way that flights only take like 5 - 9 hours (9 is a bit much though) its crazy how fast this new strand of virus can spread throughout the world. Alone my mom was in the same room last night with 8 woman that had just been recently to Mexico. There are already 5 confirmed cases of the bug in Canada but not sure where and I guarantee its going to raise pretty dam fast. Then theres the fact that the cure is small in quanity and so its going to be a alot of money to get and even so its probably only going to go to the people that are considered important and the vaccination will take more then a year to develop. So yeah... this new new strand is scary. | |

There are 4 in Nova Scotia, 2 in BC. All said to either have recovered or are recovering well. Concern now turns to Mexican migrant farm workers who are due to arrive in the coming days. Canadian and Mexican officials are getting together soon to evaluate the risks of them coming into the country now...

| I hate the way the national news corporations try this scaremongering tactic. Yes, there is a flu virus. Yes, there is a death toll. But why do all the news stations make it out to be the onset of the Apocalypse? There is obviously a need to be concerned, but scareing the shit out of everyone so as to ensure people stay glued to their news channels ($ratings$) and buy their papers ($sales$) is wrong. Remember SARS? Remember Bird Flu? SARS turned out to practically not exist. Bird Flu, although it claimed lives, turned out to be very little considering the panic that the media tried to stir up. | |

| Well first news need something that will catch viewers attention and direct them away from the current economic crisis but the reason its a huge deal is because even if the new strand only has a lets say 3% kill rate. Well since its starting to be found more and more around the world, if it infects over thousands of people that 3% becomes big deal and a huge number of people could potentially die. And the bird flu only affected birds until the very end when there was a family killed by the bird flu out in an isolated part of middle asia. Do i agree that media is blowing the virus out of proportion? Absolutly, all news papers have people wearing masks at the mexico airport but in the grand scheme of things, if the virus does end up infecting thousands or even millions, then thats when this becomes a huge deal and thats why its a scary thing. So pretty much everything you already said lol. This new news though is that they upgraded it to the 4th level out of the 6 lvl system. | |

| As a TV news insider, I know that this is coming right at the beginning of sweeps in the US. Ratings are everything. That's why they have commercials all the time about "Special Reports" you need to stay up until 11 for. The media will blow this up. Trust your elected officials. When they tell you zombies infected with the rage virus have taken over cities all around the world... Then panic. Until then, here are some helpful safety tips to keep you safe... If you're at the bar, at closing time... Don't decide to go "hoggin'". She might have a pretty face... or you are just that drunk. Call a cab. Besides, those girls gain 10 lbs. an hour... By all means... This is the time to rethink your decision to go and roll around in the mud with pigs. If you were thinking this... Stop it!! Mexico is laden with folks, with flu. Duh. Don't go there. ou already can't drink the water... Don't go around wearing a surgical mask. It looks stupid. Have you seen Michael Jackson lately??? Eat lots of Bacon and other Pork products. If we work together, we could eliminate all swine, and not have to worry anymore. Jews don't eat pork. Actually, this has nothing to do with this at all... Hopefully this will help you... | |

| Today I'll be going onto public transport pretending to be on the phone talking about my recent one month tour of Mexico. Then I'm going to hang up, sneeze three times, and watch everyone else on the bus shit themselves with panic. | |

| You know... this is being made into a much bigger deal than it should.
Most people, I guess, would be very surprised to know that, every year, roughly 20000 people (yes... twenty thousand) die from the regular flu.
